Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe has had a prolific career spanning five decades, in which he has participated in more than 100 films and worked with notable filmmakers like Paul Schrader, Oliver Stone, Werner Herzog, Abel Ferrara, Wes Anderson, Spike Lee and Martin Scorsese. He began his career with the experimental theater company The Wooster Group, where he was discovered by Monty Montgomery and Kathryn Bigelow. He had his breakout role playing Eric Masters in William Friedkin's classic, To Live and Die in L.A. (1985). A year later, his performance in Platoon (1986) garnered him his first Academy Award nomination, and now today is one of the most prominent actors in cinema.
