González, Ana Valeria

She studied political science, philosophy and Latin American studies at the University of Cologne in Germany. She won the award for Best Art Direction at the 18th Iberoamerican Film Festival Cine Ceará for her short film Antonio Pode (2007) by Ivan Morales Jr., which participated in dozens of festivals around the world. She participated in the 6th Berlinale Talents and the 2nd Talents Guadalajara. She debuted as a director in Magritte (2011), which formed part of the Mexican Short Film Section at the 10th Morelia International Film Festival I (FICM).

¡Aoquic iez in Mexico! ¡Ya México no existirá más!

A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult. This is an erratic film that invites us to reimagine the complex relationship we have with the constructed “mexicanidad.”
