Image Castañeda, Karla She studied Painting and Illustration at the Faculty of Fine Arts Pontevedra, University of Vigo, Spain, and graduated with a degree in Communication Sciences from ITESO. In 2007, she directed her opera prima, the short film Jacinta, which was pre-selected to compete for the Oscar 2009, and won the Ariel for Best Animated Short Film, Best Animated Short Film at FICM 2008 and was part of the International Critics' Week at Cannes 2009. That same year, she directed ten animated short films of a minute under the technique 2d for Batallón 52, in honor of the Bicentennial and Centenary of the Independence and Mexican Revolution. His short film, La noria, won an Ariel in 2013 for Best Short Film and several international awards such as the Jury Prize at the Latin American Film Festival in Biarritz, France. He made the series Félix, el coleccionista de miedos (2011), which includes 26 chapters of 10 minutes each episode corresponds to the adaptation of an illustrated album from the OQO editorial catalogue. It is currently broadcast on a children's segment of channel 11. Several of its chapters have been awarded at the International Television Festival in Barcelona. She has been a jury of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, Cuba, as well as the Guadalajara International Film Festival, Chihuahua International Film Festival, Guanajuato International Film Festival and the Chilemonos Festival, in Chile. She has also been a jury for the State Council for Culture and the Arts and the Call for the Program to Encourage Cinematographic Creators 2015 in the screenplay and argument category.
