Image Carrillo, Sofía She studied Visual Arts in the Department of Image and Sound (DIS) of the University of Guadalajara (U. de G.). Specialized in stop-motion animation, her work has toured more than 50 festivals around the world and has participated in five editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). On the 3rd FICM, she participated with her short film Vértigo (2004), winner of the Support for Productions of the State Fund for Culture and the Arts of Jalisco. Her short Fuera de control (2008) participated in, among other festivals, the 6th FICM, the 44th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF), the Short Film Corner of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, and the 25th Sundance Film Festival. Her short film Prita Noire (2011) won, among others, the award for the Best Animated Short Film at the 9th FICM, the 54th Ariel Awards and at the 19th San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF). Her short film La casa triste (2013) also won the Best Animated Short Film award at the 11th FICM and the 56th Ariel Awards; it was also recognized as Best Short Film Made in Mexico at the 4th Oaxaca Film Fest, and as Best Drawn and Quartered Animation Short Film at the 9th Fantastic Fest, Austin, among others. With Cerulia, she won the 14th National Contest of Short Film Projects of the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE). She was invited to the Mexicannes fellowship, in the 17th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), and participated in the 2014 edition of the Berlinale Talents. Her short animation El corazón del sastre (2014) was part of the Official Selection of the 12th FICM. In 2016, she participated in Toronto Talent Lab and Talent Motion. Creator of the animated vignettes in XX, an all-female horror anthology directed by Jovanka Vuckovic, Annie Clark, Roxanne Benjamin, Karin Kusama (Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Release, U.S., 2017). In 2017, she was part of the Mexican Short Film Section in the animation category of the 15th FICM with her work Cerulia.
