Estudió la licenciatura en Ciencias de la Comunicación y Periodismo en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), y Cinematografía en el Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), Ciudad de México. Ha realizado la fotografía de diversos proyectos, entre ellos, el cortometraje Al fondo (2012) de Pablo Giles, que se presentó en seis festivales alrededor del mundo; el cortometraje Paradisio (2013) de Rodrigo Ruiz Patterson, que se presentó en ocho festivales nacionales e internacionales, entre ellos, el 11° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM); y el cortometraje Perdona nuestras ofensas (2013) de Israel Ahumada, que se presentó en más de quince festivales alrededor del mundo y obtuvo los premios a Mejor Cortometraje de Ficción y Mejor Actuación Femenina en la 1a entrega de los Premios 360 a Realizadores Independientes, México. Actualmente se encuentra en proceso de post-producción del documental Dejar la piel de Israel Ahumada, proyecto que obtuvo el Premio Doculatente del Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE) en el DocuLab.6 del 29° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG), México. Dejar la piel participó en el IDFA Academy del 27° International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Países Bajos, y en el 11° International Pitching Market del 17° Festival Internacional de Cine Guanajuato (GIFF, por sus siglas en inglés), México. Argel Ahumada de Mendoza también participa en la realización de los cortometrajes Fausto en la oscuridad de Israel Ahumada y Los tiempos de Héctor de Ariel Gutiérrez. Su cortometraje documental Benny (2015) fue parte de la Selección Oficial del 13° FICM.

A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult. This is an erratic film that invites us to reimagine the complex relationship we have with the constructed “mexicanidad.”

Ziuta travesías

Ziuta, a Polish Jewish survivor of World War II, was an extraordinary woman who sparked special devotion for her political commitment and her support for clandestine struggle. As a teenager, Ziuta weathered exile with fortitude and determination, saving her mother and other relatives from perishing in their flight. Despite the horrors and scarcity she endured, she upheld a grateful outlook on life.

Oskar Alegría embarks on a journey to recover the past. With a Super-8 camera that once belonged to his father and has remained untouched for 41 years, he plans to retrace the path of the shepherd: the journey of transhumance that his grandfather undertook in his youth, following now-forgotten coordinates. The result is a film that delights in the search —as well as the many detours along the way.
