Se especializó en cine y se tituló en 1994 con una tesis sobre animación que incluía su primer cortometraje animado: 4 maneras de tapar un hoyo, selección oficial en competencia en el Festival de Cannes de 1996 y ganador en el festival de cine de la Habana. A lo largo de su carrera como director, productor y guionista ha realizado decenas de proyectos, muchos de ellos dirigidos al público infantil y juvenil. Entre sus cortos y series de televisión, con más de 20 reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales. Escritor, director y productor de proyectos animados y de acción viva. Trabajó durante varios años en la barra infantil del Canal Once de la TV Pública Mexicana, donde fue realizador de Bizbirije, así como director en las series infantiles El diván de Valentina y Cuentos de pelos. En 2012 fundó Brinca taller de animación, estudio dedicado a utilizar la animación para temáticas educativas y sociales. Sus cortos animados y de ficción suman más de 20 reconocimientos internacionales. Desde que co-fundó Brinca Taller de Animación en 2012, Jorge y Carlos Hagerman han hecho equipo co-produciendo y co-dirigiendo proyectos infantiles animados, y herramientas de comunicación para organizaciones pro derechos humanos como UNICEF y la Comisión Mexicana de Derechos Humanos. Actualmente trabaja en su siguiente largometraje animado El gigante y la bailarina y produce la animación del documental Soñar con Momo, ambos del estudio Brinca.
