His feature film Tijuana Makes Me Happy (2007) won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature at the Slamdance Film Festival, Park City, Utah, and the Indie Max Award at the 13th SAFILM - San Antonio Film Festival, United States. He participated in the 8th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) with his feature film Tierra Madre (2010), which received a Jury Honorable Mention.
