Image Sánchez Orozco; Alejandra She studied social communication at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM, in Spanish) in Mexico City, cinematography at the CUEC-UNAM film school and received a master’s degree in screenwriting at the Intercontinental University (UIC, in Spanish). She has been a member of the National System of Art Creators of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), Mexico, since 2013. She created and directed the three seasons of Gregoria, la cucaracha (2009-2013), a science and health education program transmitted on Channel 22, Mexico. Her work has been shown at more than 20 festivals around the world and has participated in three editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). She won the Audience Award at the 2nd FICM for her short fiction film Te apuesto y te gano (2003). Her feature length documentary Bajo Juárez, la ciudad devorando a sus hijas (2006), co-directed with José Antonio Cordero, won a Special Mention and a TITRA award at the 4th FICM; Best Documentary at the 14th San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF) and the 43rd Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF); and Best Documentary in the category Frontiers at the 5th Independent Hispanic American Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence,” Mexico, among others. It was nominated for an Ariel for Best Documentary at the 50th Ariel Awards, Mexico. She also participated in the 9th FICM with her feature length documentary Angus Dei, cordero de Dios (2011), which won the José Rovirosa Award of the UNAM Film Archives for Best Documentary 2011; the Coral award for Best Documentary at the 33rd International Festival of New Latin American Film in Havana, Cuba; the Jury Special Award at the 51st Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI, in Spanish), Colombia; and a Jury Special Mention at the 23rd Toulouse Latin American Film Festival, France, among others. She participated in the 29th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish), among others, with her first feature film Seguir viviendo (2014), which won the Young Audience Award at the 6th Durango Festival of Mexican Cinema, Mexico.
