Image Mendoza Ruiz, Pablo He studied his B.A. in Cinematography at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CCC), in Mexico City, and a Masters in Film Theory and Creation at the Beijing Film Academy, China, where he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education from the People's Republic of China. He has also participated in diverse courses and workshops in still photography at the Centro de la Imagen, in Mexico City, under the tutelage of Israeli photographer Michael Ackerman. His films have been mentioned in multiple articles by Mexican film critic Jorge Ayala Blanco, who included them in his book La herética del cine mexicano (2006). While studying his Masters at the Beijing Film Academy, he made a series of films under the tutelage of the celebrated filmmaker Jiang Wen; works that traveled to many countries in Asia and that were greatly appreciated. He has also worked at the China Television Station (CTS) in Beijing, where he was in charge of projects by Chile’s Canal 13 during the Beijing Olympics in 2008, by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and by Spain’s Canal 5, among others. He actually works as Coordinator of Cultural Promotion and Vinculation at the Center for Mexican Studies (CEM) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in China. His work has traveled to numerous festivals in Asia and to the rest of the world. His film Rojo eterno/ Everlasting Red (2006) was nominated in the category of Best Short Fiction Film for the 48th Ariel Awards in Mexico. Rojo eterno also participated in the 4th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), in the 10th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), and in the 6th Beijing Film Academy International Student Film and Video Festival. He worked as director of photography in Chinese filmmaker Zou Peng’s feature film debut Dongbei, dongbei (2009), winner of the FIPRESCI Award at the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF).
