Image Matus Alonso; Patricia Direction Patricia Matus Alonso is a Mexican researcher and audiovisual filmmaker originally from Oaxaca. She holds a Doctoral degree in Feminist Studies from the Metropolitan Autonomous University [UAM, by its acronym in Spanish, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana]. Her academic work focuses on body studies, feminist anthropologies, and the experiences of Zapotec women from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. She is currently undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities [CEIICH, by its acronym in Spanish, Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades] at the National Autonomous University of Mexico [UNAM, by its acronym in Spanish, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México].Her audiovisual practice is grounded in ethnographic research and participatory action research processes, with a special interest in the experiences, resistances, and forms of organization of Zapotec women in response to transformations in their territory.
