Giunti presented the documentary Los Lobos: Native Sons at the 24th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).The film, co-directed by Giunti and Doug Blush, serves as the definitive and authoritative chronicle of one of America’s most enduring and innovative bands.Tracing their journey from their beginnings on the streets of East Los Angeles to global recognition, the film offers unprecedented access to the band’s archives and an intimate look at the brotherhood that fueled their career. It celebrates their legacy as pioneers who fused rock, roots music, and Mexican traditions into a unique sound. Piero F. Giunti Before the screening, Giunti spoke about what the band has meant in his own life: “As a Mexican-Italian, I am very proud to be here and to tell the story of a group that changed my life—and the lives of so many others. Los Lobos allowed me to be who I am. They showed me that I could blend my entire cultural background and tell our collective stories.”The director also addressed the film’s significance within the current U.S. social and political climate, particularly regarding the issue of immigration: “The first thing I have to say is: fuck Trump, fuck ICE, and fuck everyone who is against immigrants!”“When we were in Colorado, a man told me that, thanks to this film, his perspective on migrants had changed. A revolution begins with one person who influences their family, and eventually, the rest of the world,” Giunti shared. The film will be screened for the public this Saturday, October 24, at Cinépolis Las Américas at 8:45 p.m.
