Larrea Sánchez, Carla

She studied Technology in Filmmaking and Acting at the Instituto Superior de Cine y Actuación INCINE, in Quito, Ecuador; and Filmmaking at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), in Mexico City. She has participated in two feature films and in more than 20 short films as producer and assistant director. Among these productions stand out: Encarnación (2015) by Ricardo Castro and Memorias (2008) by José Espinosa. She has directed seven short films, among them Indeleble (2016), part of the Official Selection of the 14th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). She is currently in pre-production of her latest project, Trans*parentes.

¡Aoquic iez in Mexico! ¡Ya México no existirá más!

A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult. This is an erratic film that invites us to reimagine the complex relationship we have with the constructed “mexicanidad.”
