Image Lara; Gerardo He studied cinematography at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC-UNAM) in Mexico City. He received the Rockefeller and MacArthur scholarships in 1998. He won First Place at the Sceenplay Bank at the Mexican Writers’ Guild (SOGEM) on two occasions: in 2001 for Rencor vivo and in 2002 for Sangre de toro. His work has been shown in more than 10 festivals around the world. With his short film Diamante (1984) he participated in the 1st Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), Mexico; in the 6th Amiens International Film Festival, France; and in the 11th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Canada. This work was nominated in the category of Best Short Film at the 22nd Silver Goddess Awards, Mexico. With his feature film debut Un año perdido (1993) he participated in the 8th FICG; in the 15th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema of Havana, Cuba; and in the 14th Amiens International Film Festival. His short documentary film La perra del diablo/The Devil’s Bitch (2005) was part of the Official Selection of the 3rd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and of the 21st FICG.
