Flores Correa; César

César Flores Correa (México, 1993) has worked and been director of cinematography in different media projects, mostly in documentaries. His work has been presented in exhibitions and film festivals such as the Morelia International Film Festival, Shorts Mexico, Chicago Latino Film Festival, Mexico City Independent Film Fest, Madrid Film and Human Rights Festival, among others. In 2020 he was selected by Talents Guadalajara for his work as director of cinematography. Within the awards and mentions he has gathered, we could found: Honorable Mention at the 12th edition of Shorts Mexico, Honorable Mention at the Mexico City Independent Film Fest, Best Documentary at the 11th edition of the FICUVAQ and second place at the Festival Estatal de Cortometrajes CCC 2019.

In 2022, he received the Condecoración al Mérito Juvenil by the Instituto de la Juventud Moreliana and the H. Morelia City Hall in the category of cultural-artistic.

This is an erratic film that invites us to reimagine the complex relationship we have with the constructed “mexicanidad.”

As a teenager, Ziuta weathered exile with fortitude and determination, saving her mother and other relatives from perishing in their flight. Despite the horrors and scarcity she endured, she upheld a grateful outlook on life.

With a Super-8 camera that once belonged to his father and has remained untouched for 41 years, he plans to retrace the path of the shepherd: the journey of transhumance that his grandfather undertook in his youth, following now-forgotten coordinates. The result is a film that delights in the search —as well as the many detours along the way.
