Image Estrada Cárdenas, Alba Sovietina She studied Hispanic language and literature at the Michoacán University of Saint Nicolás of Hidalgo (UMICH), Morelia, and received a master’s degree in cultural studies with a specialty in film from the Paul-Valéry Montpellier III University, France, and a master’s in screenwriting and directing from the Mexican Institute of Film and Humanistic Research (IMICH, in Spanish), Morelia. She won the Student Merit Award from the Morelia city government in 2010. She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI, in Spanish) of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), Mexico. She participated in the 9th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the 9th International Festival of Poor Cinema of Gibara, Cuba, with her documentary Aquí en mi tierra: La memoria y la palabra (2011), co-directed with Lucio Pedro Estrada Cárdenas.
