Image Armella, Carlos He studied screenwriting at the CCC film school in Mexico City, and art and film technique at the London Film School (LFS), England. He obtained grants from the Toscano Foundation, Sundance Institute and the Young Creators of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), among others. His work has been shown at more than 60 festivals around the world and has competed at four editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). His feature-length documentary Toro Negro (2005), co-directed with Pedro González-Rubio, won the Best Feature Length Documentary Award at the 3rd FICM; the Horizontes Award at the 53rd San Sebastián International Film Festival, Spain; a Special Mention and the Audience Award at the 16thThree Continents Festival in Nantes, France; and the Coral Award for Best Picture at the 27th International Festival of New Latin American Film, Havana, Cuba. He participated in the 6th FICM with his short fiction film Tierra y Pan (2008), which won more than 15 national and international awards, including the Golden Lion for Best Picture at the 65th Venice International Film Festival, Italy; the Coral Award for Best Picture at the 31st International Festival of New Latin American Film, Havana, Cuba; the Best International Short Film award and the Critics’ Prize at the 37th International Film Festival of Huesca, Spain; and Best Short Film award at the 4th Short Shorts Film Festival México (SSFFM). He participated in the 8th FICM and the 5th SSFFM, among other festivals, with his short fiction film 29 (2010), which won the award for Best Short Film at the 30th Enkarzine: Amateur Short Film Festival, Spain. He competed at the 10th FICM with his short fiction film Las manos limpias (2012), also selected at the 3rd UNAM International Film Festival (FICUNAM) and the 69th Venice International Film Festival, among others. He participated in the 43rd International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) with his feature-length documentaryEn la estancia (before entitled Las voces) (2014). Other Movies Mexico will no longer exist! A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult.
