David, a man in his forties, lives a predictable life with his wife Maya and their two children. To please his wife with the latest gadgets, he works solitary shift work, days and nights, as a janitor in a retirement home. But when he begins to suspect that Maya is having an affair, he starts to lose ground, his past threatening to destroy everything in his path.

After her parents’ separation, eight-year-old Caro moves in with her mother and her stepfather, Felipe. Even though her mother makes it clear that she will never see her father again, Caro wants nothing more than for him to return. Feeling abandoned, she seeks refuge near the well in the backyard of their house, a secret place. As she grows up, distant from her mother, Caro discovers a secret about her father that will change her forever.

Laura is a young freelance writer who only leaves her apartment to go shopping. She is an inveterate optimistic who insists on seeing positive situations where there is nothing but dead-end streets. While she eats directly from a can she talks with her mother and describes to her the delicious food she claims to be eating. She also tells her that she is very close to her neighbors, who don’t even know she exists. Although her life is dominated by lies, cruel reality sets in.
