The Mystery of the Ghastly Face

Juan de Dios, a law student, is the son of Eloísa, a single mother who works hard as a seamstress to support her son. Through a classmate, Juan de Dios learns that he is the bastard son of Cecilio, a village cacique. He decides to go meet him, passing himself off as a bachelor and going to work at his father’s house, where he endures humiliation. Little by little, the affection between him and his cousin Lucía grows stronger.

This is the story of a gambler whose lover is a renowned philanthropist’s wife. At the same time, the gambler is cheating on her with another woman. The secret love triangle is gradually exposed by the jealousy, ambitions, and weaknesses of its participants, including the guilt felt by all three lovers.

Dr. Forti, obsessed with finding the cure for a mysterious disease, experiments on his patients, who die one by one as a result of his medical failures. Desperate, he embarks on an expedition to distant lands to study local medicine with his son Pablo, who then leaves his girlfriend Angélica. Eight years later, the doctor returns from his trip without his son, but with a strange companion who wears a pale mask.
