Estudió la licenciatura y la maestría en Cinematografía en la Escuela Nacional de Cine de Łódź, Polonia. Su obra ha recorrido numerosos festivales alrededor del mundo: participó en el 26º Festival de Cine de Torino (TFF), Italia, con su cortometraje documental Dialogue about an image (2008). Su cortometraje Waterdrop (2010), codirigido con Jan Pawel Trzaska, fue presentado en el 35º Festival de Cine de Gdynia, Poland, y en el 12º Festival de Cine Polaco en Los Ángeles, California. Participó, por su mediometraje documental, también en co-dirección con Jan Pawel, en el 10º Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM), en el 52º Festival de Cine de Cracovia (KKF), Polonia, y en el 3er Festival Internacional de Cine de Puebla (FIC Puebla), México. En 2013 estrenó, en el marco del 13º T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival, Polonia, su mediometraje Siamese, así como en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Guanajuato (GIFF) y en el Festival de Cine Polaco de Gdynia, donde obtuvo la mención del jurado. Su Ópera Prima Maquinaria Panamericana (2016), fue estrenada en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín (Berlinale) y ha participado, hasta el momento, en el Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG), donde obtuvo el premio FIPRESCI y el Premio Mezcal a la Mejor Película Mexicana; en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Mérida y Yucatán (FICMY), en donde ganó el Premio a Mejor Largometraje en la sección Ópera Prima Latinoamericana; en el Festival de Cine Mexicano de Durango (FCM), en donde obtuvo el Premio a Mejor Largometraje, el Premio de la crítica, el Premio del jurado joven y el Premio “Centro Buñuel Calanda”. Su gira internacional incluye el Festival Internacional de Cine de Miami (MIFF), el Festival Internacional de Cine de Hong Kong, el Kino Pavasaris, en Lituania, entre otros. Actualmente escribe su segundo largometraje.

A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult. This is an erratic film that invites us to reimagine the complex relationship we have with the constructed “mexicanidad.”

Ziuta travesías

Ziuta, a Polish Jewish survivor of World War II, was an extraordinary woman who sparked special devotion for her political commitment and her support for clandestine struggle. As a teenager, Ziuta weathered exile with fortitude and determination, saving her mother and other relatives from perishing in their flight. Despite the horrors and scarcity she endured, she upheld a grateful outlook on life.

Oskar Alegría embarks on a journey to recover the past. With a Super-8 camera that once belonged to his father and has remained untouched for 41 years, he plans to retrace the path of the shepherd: the journey of transhumance that his grandfather undertook in his youth, following now-forgotten coordinates. The result is a film that delights in the search —as well as the many detours along the way.
