02 · 15 · 16 Mexican Cinema at the 2016 Berlinale Share with twitter Share with facebook Share with mail Copy to clipboard The Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which celebrates its 66th edition from the 11th – 21st February 2016, will include an extraordinarily strong Mexican presence. The festival’s Forum section will include two films that were part of Impulso Morelia: the Canadian/Mexican co-production Tales of Two Who Dreamt, by Andrea Bussmann and Nicolás Pereda; and the Mexican production Tempestad, by Tatiana Huezo. Esteban Arrangoiz’ El buzo, which won the Best Short Documentary Prize at the 13th FICM, will compete in the international short film competition. Jorge Sánchez, Esteban Arrangoiz and Daniela Michel at the 2016 Berlinale. Mexican cinema is also represented at Berlin this year by Michel Franco, who won the award for Best Screenplay at the 68th Cannes Film Festival last year for his feature Chronic, and who is part of the Best First Film jury at the Berlinale. Berlinale Talents, an initiative that brings together directors, producers, screenwriters, actors, critics and other emerging professionals, will this year include ten Mexicans, including directors Jorge Michel Grau, Ernesto Martínez and Gabriela Domínguez Ruvalcaba. the composer Max Aldo Rodríguez, and the cinematographer Carlos Eduardo Correa Reynos. Finally, the Berlinale Co-Production Market will present six Mexican works, all of which gained their place due to an initiative launched by IMCINE. The works are: Diario de un elefante, by Fernando Eimbcke; Crisantemos, by Javier Ávila; Bayoneta, by Kyzza Terrazas; El ojo de los días by J.
