Cursó los seminarios de Composición, Análisis de Texto y Dramaturgia, con el escritor, dramaturgo, director de teatro y guionista mexicano Hugo Argüelles, de 1998 a 2000. Ha sido becario por parte del Fondo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes (FECA), Baja California Sur, en la categoría de Guión Cinematográfico, en 2001, 2003 y 2006. Su obra ha recorrido más de 30 muestras y festivales alrededor del mundo. Participó en el 20° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG) y en el 1er Panorama Latinoamericano de Cine Universitario, Brasil, entre otros festivales, con su cortometraje documental El pardito (2005), por el que obtuvo el premio a Mejor Cortometraje en el 2° Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario, Valladolid, España. Su cortometraje de ficción Olas de Verano (2007) formó parte de la Selección Oficial del 5° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM); del 30° Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Clermont-Ferrand, Francia; del 55° Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián, España; y del Festival Internacional de Cine de Algarve (FICA), Portugal, entre otros. Obtuvo por su ópera prima Los otros californios (2011), entre otros premios, Mejor Documental Mexicano y el Feisal a Mejor Ópera Prima en el 5° Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de México DocsDF; Mejor Documental en el Concurso de Mejores Obras Artísticas del 2010, Canal 22, México; y tres premios en el 13° Festival Pantalla de Cristal, México: Mejor Fotografía, Mejor Música Original y Mejor Diseño de Audio.
