Participó en el 1er FICM con su cortometraje de ficción En el espejo del cielo (1998), por el que obtuvo numerosos premios nacionales e internacionales, entre los que destacan el Premio del Jurado en el 22° Festival des Films du Monde (FMM), Montreal, Canadá; el Coral a Mejor Cortometraje en el 20° Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, La Habana, Cuba; y el Premio Internacional del Jurado en el 49° Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín Berlinale, Alemania. En el 6° FICM se proyectó su cortometraje de ficción Las olas del tiempo (2000) dentro del ciclo en homenaje a Pepe Escriche. Esta obra obtuvo el Premio del Jurado en el 15° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG) y el Premio Canal + en el 29° Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca, España, entre otros. Su ópera prima Zurdo (2003) fue ganadora de cuatro premios Ariel en la 46ª entrega de los premios Ariel, México: Mejor Música para Cine, Mejor Sonido, Mejor Diseño de Arte y Mejor Vestuario.
