Participó en el 7° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM) con su primer largometraje documental, en co-dirección con Geoffrey Smith, Presunto culpable (2009), donde obtuvo el premio a Mejor Largometraje Documental. Esta obra recorrió numerosos festivales alrededor del mundo y obtuvo más de diez premios nacionales e internacionales, entre ellos, el Premio del Público en el 16° Festival de Cine de los Ángeles (LA Film Fest); el premio Emmy a Mejor Investigación Periodística en el 32° News & Documentary Emmy Awards, Nueva York; Mejor Película en la 8ª entrega de los Premios Canacine, México; y Mejor Documental en el 25° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG).
