Additionally, the film was selected as Norway's candidate to compete for the Best International Feature Film Academy Awards in 2026.Sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their father, Gustav, a once famous film director who offers Nora, a theater actress, a role in what he hopes will be the film that marks his comeback. When Nora declines, she finds out that he has given her role to a young Hollywood star. Suddenly, the sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father and deal with an American actress caught in the middle of their family dynamic. Sentimental Value is an intimate and moving exploration of family, memories, and the reconciliatory power of art.With an acting career spanning over five decades, Stellan Skarsgård has been honored at various award ceremonies and festivals, including the Golden Globes and the Berlin Film Festival. He began his career in Swedish television and theater before moving on to film, where he has worked with directors such as Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier, with whom he has collaborated on Breaking the Waves (1996), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Melancholia (2011), and Nymphomaniac (2013); and Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland, who directed him in Zero Kelvin (1995), Aberdeen (2000), A Somewhat Gentle Man (2010), and In Order of Disappearance (2014).
