He participated in the 6th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) with his first feature film Espiral (2008); which was presented at more than 30 festivals around the world, including the 49th Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI, in Spanish), Colombia; the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) Egypt; the 26th Chicago Latino Film Festival, United States; and the 1st Distrital Cine y Otros Mundos International Film Festival, Mexico City. He received a Special Mention at the 2nd Latin American Film Festival of Flanders, Brussels; the Jury Special Award at the 12th South American Film Encounters, Marseille, France; and two nominations, for Best Costume Design and for Best Make-up, at the 52nd Ariel Awards Ceremony, Mexico, among others.
