Image Novelo, José María He is currently studying for his master's degree at the National Contemporary Arts Study, LE FRESNOY, in France. He graduated from the University Center for Film Studies (CUEC-UNAM) and the Vancouver Film School. He was a FONCA Young Creative Artists Fellow in the Multimedia discipline in 2005, received support for Art and Media from the National Arts Center in 2008, was awarded the FONCA CONACYT 2011 International Residency Program, the International Artist Residency Program HALLE 14 in Leipzig, Germany, the grant from the European Media Artists in Residence Exchange EMARE in Bourges, France, in 2013, and the Interdisciplinary Program of Residencies Casa Wabi, in 2016. An artist of the Contemporary Art galleries Ramis Barquet Monterrey, Luis Adelantado in Valencia Spain and Yautepec in Mexico City. His work has been exhibited in national and international museums, among them the Carrillo Gil Museum, the X Teresa Museum, the Digital Culture Center, the Eco Experimental Museum, the Reina Sofía Museum and the Casa Encendida, in Spain, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Warsaw Zamek Ujazdowski, and The Telefonica Foundation, in Argentina. He has participated with his work in FRIEZE, ARCO and MACO art fairs. The Young Art in Moscow Biennial, Havana Biennial, and the MEXICO CALIFORNIA Biennial. His film projects have been exhibited at the Contemporary Cinema International Film Festival in Mexico City FICCO, the CDMX District Festival, the Morelia International Film Festival and the CINALFAMA International Film Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. He was also label manager and founder of the extinct label Vale Vergas Discos, and collaborated with international and national musicians such as Molly Nilsson, Anika, Mueran Humanos, Hidrogenesse and Juan Cirerol, among others.
