Lipkes; Michel

He studied cinematography at the CCC film school in Mexico City. His work has been shown at more than 30 festivals around the world, including two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He participated in the 3rd FICM with his medium length documentary Escupir contra el viento (2005). He received a Special Mention at the 9th FICM with his first feature film Malaventura (2011). This last film also participated in the 40th International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR), Netherlands; the 33rd International Festival of New Latin American Film, Havana, Cuba; and the 11th T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival, Breslavia, Poland, among others.

¡Aoquic iez in Mexico! ¡Ya México no existirá más!

A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult. This is an erratic film that invites us to reimagine the complex relationship we have with the constructed “mexicanidad.”
