González Villaseñor, Omar

He studied communication at the Vasco de Quiroga University, Michoacán, and received a master’s degree in film directing at the Nuevo León Cineteca of the Arts, Monterrey. He is a founding member of the Michoacán Association of Film and Video Directors and Technicians and organizer of the 1st Indigenous Film and Video Festival (FECVI, in Spanish), Morelia. He won the Audience Award at the 2nd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) for his short documentary Mi tierra caliente (2003). He received the Young Creators Grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) to make his short film Los fareros del Coíre, de la tierra naces… (2012), which participated in the 10th FICM.
