He won the International Creators Competition at the 24th Belluard Bollwerk International Film Festival. His documentary Calentamiento local (2008), which was presented at the 6th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), won the Best Documentary Film at the 6th Mexico City International Contemporary Film Festival (FICCO) and Best Documentary for TV at the 4th International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City DocsDF. His first film Rezeta (2011), part of the Official Selection at the 10th FICM, received the Best Film Award at the 20th Slamdance Film Festival; Best Film at the 2nd Mallorca Evolution International Film Festival (EIFF); and the Young Jury Award at the 5th Durango Festival of Mexican Cinema, among others.
