The Press Conference for Nicolás Pereda's LÁZARO DE NOCHE was Held as Part of the 22nd FICM

As part of the 22nd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), the press conference for Lázaro de noche, a film directed by Nicolás Pereda, was held at the Melchor Ocampo Theater. The event was attended by producer Catalina Pereda and actor Gabriel Nuncio, who shared their perspectives on the teamwork that characterizes the production.

Catalina Pereda emphasized the almost festive dynamic that exists among the team members: “The teams work like a theater troop. It's almost like a party among friends." As aproducer, and also the sister of the director, Catalina shared how enriching it is to collaborate with Pereda: “I think working with him is a very joyful process, it's almost more like a theater company. There is a very horizontal thing in terms of hierarchies”.

For his part, Gabriel Nuncio spoke about the atmosphere of camaraderie and support he found on the set: “It's a generous gang. Good actors are the ones who make you feel like a good actor; they made me feel like I was doing great.” In addition, he highlighted the meticulousness behind his performance, which may seem improvised but was carefully structured. “My role actually does have a script. There was a rigor to it, and for me, that was interesting as an actor,” said Nuncio.

Catalina Pereda also acknowledged Nuncio's contribution to the atmosphere of the project: “The nice thing about having you was that you gave a more playful touch to the troupe because having you was a counterpoint.”

In Lázaro de noche three friends in their forties audition for a role in a movie. As they undergo the selection process, they reminisce about their youth and fantasize about a peculiar version of the story of Aladdin. Their friendship is strained by an awkward love triangle that they are unable to resolve.

The conference reaffirmed the distinctive approach and creative atmosphere that characterizes Lázaro de noche, reflecting the vision of director Nicolás Pereda and the unique collaboration that drives this production in the context of one of Mexico's most important film festivals.
