Eve and Harry Graham are trying to adopt a baby. The head of the adoption agency senses that Harry is keeping a secret and does some investigating. He soon discovers that Harry has done an unusual amount of traveling from his home in San Francisco to Los Angeles. Harry gets tracked down in L.A. where he has a second family.  How has he been able to maintain this “double life”? The answer is found in this work by the first woman to direct a film noir in Hollywood in the 1950s.

Outrage

After being raped, a young woman distances herself from her family and her fiancé. Unable to face society, she runs away and gets a job on an orange ranch. A young clergyman takes an interest in her, helps her rebuild her faith, and sends her back to her parents and fiancé. The film presents the female character as a victim of individual and systemic aggression rather than holding her responsible, as in other films of the time.
