The Bigamist

In this film, based a true story, two men travel to Mexico for a few days of fishing. When a third man asks them for a ride, they have no idea that he’s Billy Cook, a serial killer on the run.

After being raped, a young woman distances herself from her family and her fiancé. Unable to face society, she runs away and gets a job on an orange ranch. A young clergyman takes an interest in her, helps her rebuild her faith, and sends her back to her parents and fiancé. The film presents the female character as a victim of individual and systemic aggression rather than holding her responsible, as in other films of the time.
