The documentary chronicles the deployment of a U.S. platoon in the deadly valley of Korengal, Afghanistan. The film focuses on an enclave made up of 15 men called “Restrepo,” in honor of a doctor of the platoon who died on the battlefield. This is an experimental film in many ways — it does not interview generals or diplomats. The main idea is to convey to the viewer the sensation of having been in the heart of the war themselves for 90 minutes.
