Pepe El Toro (Pepe the Bull) is a humble carpenter who lives in a poor Mexico City neighborhood, sharing life’s joys and troubles with his young daughter Chachita, his paralytic mother and his girlfriend Celia. Pepe begins a battle against injustice after being falsely accused of a crime. Fortunately, he is released, thanks to the support of his neighbors and friends.

At the turn of the century, in northern Mexico, Reynaldo del Hierro is executed by Pascual Velasco, as he rides with his children Reynaldo and Martín. During the funeral, the widow plants the seed of revenge in her children. Years go by, and Martín avenges his father´s death, killing Pascual. This is the first in a series of murders involving the brothers del Hierro.
