Ghosts

Fate brings a trio together in Jerichow, a small town in eastern Germany plagued by unemployment and a mass population exodus. An ex-soldier?s encounter with a couple of Turkish descent ?the owner of a fast food chain and his enigmatic wife? pushes all three over the edge.

About nine years before the fall of the Wall, Barbara, a doctor from Berlin, applies for an exit visa from the GDR (East Germany). She is arrested and transferred to a provincial hospital after her release in the summer of 1980. While her lover prepares for her escape to the West via the Baltic Sea, Barbara works as a pediatric surgeon, under frequent observation and control. Her new boss André appears to be cooperating with members of the state security - but howfar would he go if a serious case were to occur?

Yella leaves her small town. She longs for the future. She wants to leave the life she has led up until now behind her. On her travels she meets a man who works in the venture capital world. Yella proves herself as his assistant, but time and fragments of her past come back to haunt her.
