During the Mexican Revolution, Rosalío Mendoza survives by doing and winning favors from both the government forces and Zapata’s rebel army. Depending on the political allegiance of guests at his hacienda, he displays the portraits of either Huerta or Zapata. Eventually, the situation becomes unsustainable and he is forced to take sides. Betrayal and deceit ensue—and Mendoza’s dark side surfaces.
