In 1535, an alchemist builds an extraordinary mechanism encapsulated in a tiny golden artifact. The invention, designed to bring eternal life to its owner, survives its creator until 1997, when it is found by antiques dealer Jesús Gris. The promise of eternal life has become an obsession for the old and ailing Dieter de la Guardia and his nephew, both of whom will do whatever it takes to get hold of “the invention of Cronos.”
