As of Wednesday, October 23, the venue will be the Teatro Emperador Caltzontzin, which will host screenings of Monarcas, el gran viaje a los bosques naranjas (2023, dir. Sophie Roy), Las hijas del maguey (2023, dir. Francisca Siza) and El jockey (2024, dir. Luis Ortega).

On Thursday, October 24, the theater will host screenings for the short films included in the Michoacán Section, with some of the filmmakers in attendance. “In total, 15 directors from this crucial competitive section, along with other members of their casts and production teams, will attend the Patzcuaro Extension to present their work and participate in Q&A sessions,” James T. Ramey explained.

During her speech, Maringeli Guzmán Santoyo emphasized the importance of this connection with the festival, which has led to greater access to film culture. “Not only have we done some activities in the theater, but we have also done other things that are decentralized, we have embraced the communities,” she added.

Additionally, Julio Arreola Vázquez mentioned plans to remodel the Teatro Emperador Caltzontzin, a key venue for cultural activities in the region.
