On Body and Soul, by Ildikó Enyedi, premiers at 15º FICM

The film On Body and Soul, by Ildikó Enyedi, winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, was presented at the 15th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).

The event was attended by FICM president Alejandro Ramirez and Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick.

Alejandro Ramírez, Dieter Kosslick.

"I want to congratulate the Morelia Festival for its fifteen years. I am happy to return to the beautiful city that is Morelia and to these movie theaters," said Kosslick.

About Ildikó Enyedi, he said she is one of the humblest directors he has ever met. "I met her in 1987 in Hamburg. At that time, I chaired an institute that funds filmmakers, and she applied for her film My 20th Century (1989). I gave her the money. Meanwhile, she stayed for three days in Hamburg, got a husband, made the film, which went to Cannes and won the Golden Chamber. What package: the husband, the money and the prize," he said with a laugh.

Last year she got attention again and her new movie, which shows a different way to fall in love: "is pure magic".

The film tells the story of Endre and Mária, who work together in a slaughterhouse: he as director of finance and her as a quality control inspector. When a psychologist interrogates everyone in the company, they discover that every night they dream the same thing: that they are like deer in the forest. Both seek the love they have found in their dreams, but in real life is more difficult.

On Body and Soul will screen again on Sunday 29 at 7:15 pm in theatre 3 of Cinépolis Centro Morelia.
