Estudió la licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas y Estudios Culturales y una maestría en Estudios Latinoamericanos en la Universidad de Georgetown (GU por sus siglas en inglés), y una maestría y doctorado en Antropología Sociocultural en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU por sus siglas en inglés). Participó en el 11º Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM) con su primer largometraje documental La piedra ausente (2013), que ha recorrido más de diez muestras y festivales alrededor del mundo, y que obtuvo, entre otros premios, el Premio del Jurado en el 52º Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF), Michigan; el Premio Zapata a Mejor Documental en el 7º festival de la Memoria, Documental Iberoamericano (FMDI), México; y el premio a Mejor Propuesta de Animación en el 15º Festival Pantalla de Cristal, México.
