Obtuvo la Beca Jóvenes Creadores del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA), México, en el área de literatura, en 1990. Ganó una Mención Especial en el 5° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM) y el premio a Mejor Documental Mexicano en el 4° Festival Internacional de Cine de Baja California por su largometraje documental, co-dirigido al lado de Anna Soler Cepriá, Los días sin Joyce (un diario imaginario) (2007), que participó, entre otros festivales, en el 10° Festival Internacional de Cine de Guanajuato (GIFF por sus siglas en inglés) y en el 16° Festival Iberoamericano de Cine y Video Cinesul, Río de Janeiro. Estuvo nominado al Ariel por Mejor Cortometraje Documental en la 51ª entrega de los premios Ariel, México, por su cortometraje documental Cine a mano (2009). Su cortometraje Dos jaulas (2011) ganó el premio del Público en el Rally Pro Cámara vs Cabellera, organizado por la productora Lemon Films en el marco del 13° GIFF. Obtuvo el Premio del Público Mayahuel en el 22° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG), por su ópera prima Club eutanasia (2005). Other Movies Mexico will no longer exist!
