Esta última se presentó también en el New Directors/New Films del MoMa, Nueva York, y obtuvo los premios Alfred P. Solan Feature Film y Waldo Salt Screenwriting en el 24° Festival de Cine de Sundance, y el Premio de Amnistía Internacional en el 58° Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín, Berlinale, entre otros. Además de hacer cine, es artista de medios digitales y ha realizado diversos proyectos audiovisuales, entre ellos, los video-clips para el cantautor francés Manu Chao, Clandestino (1998), y para la agrupación musical mexicano-estadounidense La Santa Cecilia, Ice El Hielo (2013).
