Su primer documental, XV en Zaachila(2001) participó en diferentes festivales, recibiendo varios premios, nacionales e internacionales.Norteado (2009) es su primer largometraje ficción como escritor, productor y director, el cual participó en más de 60 festivales en todo el mundo, ganando múltiples reconocimientos.Fue becario de Rockefeller-MacArthur Ford, para la escritura de la película Carmín Tropical (2014) y becario del SistemaNacional de Creadores de Arte (2012) para el mismo proyecto; dicha película fue nominada a diez premios Ariel, entre otros premios internacionales.Los amantes se despiden con la mirada (2025), fue seleccionada por el 18o Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia en la sección Impulso Morelia 6, donde recibió el premio Estudios Churubusco Azteca.
