Su obra ha recorrido más de 100 festivales alrededor del mundo, incluyendo dos ediciones del Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM). Participó en el 1er FICM con su cortometraje de ficción Silencio profundo (2003), por el que obtuvo 19 premios internacionales, entre ellos, Mejor Cinematografía en el 17º Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Interfilm Berlín, Alemania; el Premio India Catalina de Oro a Mejor Cortometraje en el 44º Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias (FICCI), Colombia; y Mejor Cortometraje en el 18º American Film Institute’s AFI FEST, Los Angeles. Su largometraje de ficción Al otro lado (2005) obtuvo, entre otros reconocimientos, el Premio del Público en el 54º Festival Internacional de Cine Mannheim-Heidelberg (IFFMH por sus siglas en inglés), Alemania, y tres premios del jurado a Mejor Película: en el 13º Festival Iberoamericano de Cine y Video Cinesul, Río de Janeiro, Brasil; en el 2º Festival de Cine Latinoamericano de París, Francia; y en el 3er Festival de Cine Latino de Bristol, Inglaterra. En el 8° FICM estrenó su largometraje de ficción La otra familia (2010), por el que obtuvo el Premio del Público en el 28° Festival de Cine Latino de Chicago y el Global Vision Award en el 22° Cinequest Film Festival, California, entre otros.
