Impulso Morelia

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is a non profit civil association, dedicated to support Mexican filmmakers, cultivate new audiences, and disseminate the cinematographic culture of Mexico, through an inclusive and hospitable platform for national filmmakers, the public and the international film community.

Impulso Morelia emerged in 2015 from the Morelia International Film Festival’s efforts to foment the consistent screening of Mexican cinema abroad and to offer a new means of dialogue between national filmmakers and international film professionals. José María Riba, tireless promoter of Mexican film, is the force behind the inspiration and design of Impulso Morelia. Year after year, his professionalism and enthusiastic participation as a programmer have helped solidify this initiative, which is now in its sixth year.

This section presents to a professional audience an exclusive program of Mexican feature-length films in post-production stage. In doing so, Impulso Morelia seeks to grant these projects international visibility and to forge a direct, constructive dialogue with renowned industry experts who offer feedback for the films’ completion and subsequent circulation. The participating titles, selected with the rigor and quality of the FICM tradition, are presented by their respective teams within the framework of this professional gathering. In this way, the festival enhances the context of reflection and exchange of ideas that it has always provided, and it helps advance the talent of Mexican film directors.

Each year, Impulso Morelia also offers different forms of recognition and support that directly contribute to the completion, promotion, and visibility of the selected projects
