Meet the jury of this edition:

Lynda-Myles

Lynda Myles

She was director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and director and film curator at the Pacific Film Archive of the University of California, Berkeley. She has produced films such as The Commitments (Alan Parker), winner of the Bafta for Best Film and Oscar nominated for editing; The Snapper (Stephen Frears), winner of the Goya Awards and the Prix Italia; The Van (Stephen Frears); When Brendman Met Trudy (Roddy Doyle) and Killing Me Softly (Chen Kaige). She was founder and executive co-director of the East-West Producers Seminar, the first training program for producers in Eastern Europe. With Michel Pye, she is the author of The Movie Brats, the first study about Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Brian de Palma, George Lucas and John Milius. She was the first president of Women in Film and Television in the United Kingdom. In 2004 she joined the National Film and Television School as Head of Fiction Direction and continues to work as an independent producer.

Mauricio-Duran

Mauricio Durán

He holds a degree in Communication Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). As a specialist in film distribution, Mauricio has premiered around 1,300 films in Mexico, and has been a key player in the changes and evolution of the industry in recent decades. He has been involved in important events that have marked the world of cinema such as the transformation of 35 mm format to digital, the development of IMAX, the implementation of digital equipment, the impact of 3D digital, to name a few. He has worked for some of the main Hollywood studios, such as Columbia Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures and Universal Pictures International, where he currently serves as Senior Vice President of Distribution and Marketing for Latin America.

Miguel-Rivera

Miguel Rivera

He has a degree in Economics from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University. He was Associate Consultant of McKinsey, as well as Advisor to the Technical Secretary in the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Human and Social Development. He was also First Secretary in the Delegation of Mexico before the OECD (2003-2004). In 2005 he entered the film industry as Director of Strategic Planning for Cinépolis and later as Director of Programming.

Impulso Morelia allowed the international visibility of the selected titles and their subsequent participation in important film festivals. As first results can be mentioned:

Plaza de la Soledad, by Maya Goded, was included in the World Cinema Documentary Competition of the Sundance Festival.

Tempestad, by Tatiana Huezo, was premiered in the Forum section of the Berlinale 2016.

El corazón del cielo, by Andrea Bussmann and Nicolás Pereda, was premiered in the Forum section of the Berlinale 2016.
