07 · 25 · 23 Mexico in The 2023 Toronto International Film Festival Share with twitter Share with facebook Share with mail Copy to clipboard The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) announced the selection of its 2023 edition, which highlights two Mexican co-productions: Memory, by Michel Franco (United States/ Mexico) and The Dead Don't Hurt, by Viggo Mortensen (Mexico / Canada / Denmark). The festival will be held from September 7 to 17 in Canada. Memory (2023, Dir. Michel Franco) Memory, the new film by the Mexican director Michel Franco, starring Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard, is a co-production filmed in New York. It is a story about a couple in love trying to build a relationship, while one of them deals with trauma and dementia. The Dead Don't Hurt (2023, Dir. Viggo Mortensen) The Dead Don't Hurt, co-produced by the Mexican studio Talipot Studio and the producer Regina Solorzano, is a western about Vivienne Le Coudy, an independent woman who embarks on a relationship with a Danish immigrant played by Viggo Mortensen. Together they start a life as a couple, until the Civil War separates them and Vivienne is trapped in a place controlled by very powerful men.
