Open call for Impulso Morelia 5

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) launches the Impulso Morelia 5 call for Mexican feature films in post-production stage, which will be open from June 14 to August 16, 2019.

The selected feature films will be presented in exclusive screenings to an international panel of experts, as well as programmers of national and international festivals, producers, distributors and sales agents, as a unique opportunity to facilitate a positive reflection on the projects, their conclusion, promotion and distribution. The screenings will take place from October 20 to 22, 2019, in the 17th edition of the FICM.

In addition, the feature films participating will be subject to receiving the following prizes:

• Cinépolis Distribución increases its participation in Impulso Morelia and offers the Cinépolis Distribución Prize, which consists of $250,000 pesos in cash to cover post-production and/or promotion processes and services. The prize will be awarded to one of the participating films by the international panel of experts.
• Estudios Churubusco Azteca will grant a $350,000 pesos support in production, post-production and THX sound services to a film of the program.
• Estudios Splendor Omnia will award a prize consisting of one week of sound mixing and one more of color correction in their Tepoztlán studios.
• Ambulante will participate with a support of $50,000 pesos in cash to complete the post-production of a documentary film. The selected film will be screening in a future edition of Ambulante Itinerant Documentary Cinema.

The selection of films will be announced on September 13, 2019.

Impulso Morelia is a privileged meeting place for Mexican filmmakers and professionals of the film industry. Films like This Is Not Berlin, by Hari Sama, which had its premiere at the last Sundance Festival; The Chaotic Life of Nada Kadić, by Marta Hernaiz (Berlinale 2018); Devil’s Freedom, by Everardo González (Berlinale 2017); Polar Bear, by Marcelo Tobar (Ojo for Mexican Feature Film at FICM 2017); Strange but True, by Michel Lipkes, premiered at the 2017 International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR); Tempest, by Tatiana Huezo (Berlinale 2016), were presented in previous editions of this initiative achieving, after intense and constructive dialogues, an important international projection.
