Daniel and Ana applauded

Actors José María Torre and Marimar Vega and producers Daniel Birman and
Ximena Rubio participated in the red carpet prior to the screening.

Daniela Michel, director of FICM, turned the microphone over to the
director, saying that this was the only gala dedicated to a Mexican film.
Franco said she was very excited to be showing her film for the first time
in Mexico at the festival. "I have a very special love for Morelia because I
participated in the first edition of the festival with my short film Entre dos
and now I am proud to show my first feature film," she said.
After the screening of the film, that tells the story of a how a kidnapping
radically changes the lives of two siblings, there was a question and answer
session during which time Franco explained that the film was based on an actual
incident that was related to her by the victim's psychologist. During the press
conference, the director said the psychologist had the permission of her
patients to take the story to the big screen.
"She only told me the essential facts so that I could make the film," she
said. "I don't know the identity of the persons who lived through this
experience, but they did want to tell their story as a kind of catharsis."
Marimar Vega said to one person in the audience that for her, filming the
nude scene, which gives coherence to the movie, was not as difficult as seeing
it on the screen.
Daniel Birman said yesterday that the film will be distributed by
Fortíssimo, a Dutch company that has distributed movies like Super Size Me by
Michael Moore and that will be in charge of promoting it in Europe. Mantarraya
will do the same in Mexico.
José María Torre explained that ever since he saw the script he knew the
project would be very important and would go to Cannes.
Daniel y Ana was well received by the public who congratulated Franco for
tackling such a tough and delicate theme.
