Guillermo del Toro presented The Shape of Water for charity at the 15th FICM

Cinépolis Las Américas was filled with Guillermo del Toro fans, who attended the presentation of his film The Shape of Water, which had a special screening in benefit of the foundation of Francisco Toledo, which served to raise funds for the victims of the recent earthquakes in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca.

"I thank you for being here, as you know this function is for the benefit and for the reconstruction of the victims of the earthquake, through a link with the Toledo Foundation. We have done everything to join efforts, for this to be money that reaches the people who need it and doesn't suspiciously disappear on the road... It is an effort that has to continue, not just now but long term, we will continue for our homeland," said del Toro to thank those present.

On the other hand, Guillermo del Toro said that in these times the most important thing is to show a message of love, "we live in an age where there is a lot of cynicism, fear and anger, I try to remember a theme, love, which feels taboo again because we have a super low threshold for emotions, they make us very vulnerable," he said.

Previously, Daniela Michel, director of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), gave a welcome back to the Toro and said that The Shape of Water "is a great beauty, of enormous complexity, in conclusion, a masterpiece".

Before starting the show, Guillermo del Toro spent 45 minutes taking pictures and giving hugs and autographs to more than 250 fans.
